Martial arts have three dimensions: combat, technique and self-defense. The aim of kendo in schools is to show that the balance of power typical of martial arts can be established to stimulate the ability to reason. For this, we need neither winners nor losers, but rather learners.
The aim is to propose a way of thinking in which school kendo is studied and practised as a game of touches, feints and relationships. It's all about touching the other in the context of appropriate confrontations, while respecting physical (controlling the touch) and social (respecting the other) balances.
The martial arts were conceived as educational methods, and the physical and sporting activities they use remain educational means. In this respect, we recommend that the practice of kendo remains supervised.
The golden rules:
- Do not hurt, do not hurt yourself, do not let others hurt you;
- the stakes in the fight are not worth the integrity of the other;
- free choice of partner;
- the strongest fighter must be at met the other's level to help him or her progress;
- know how to interrupt the fight wisely.
